What is this event?

 

Join your fellow developers to end the year with some hardcore coding using new and exciting technologies. Just bring your laptop and let’s code away. This event is for developers of all different levels and skill sets working on applications who wants to learn how to build voice applications using their existing knowledge of .NET, Ruby, PHP, Python, Java, JavaScript, Node JS, Groovy or any of your other favorite development languages! 

 

Learn about Voxeo and their Tropo product, get help from Senior Tech Leads and Architects, build some exciting application, and network with different developers. This event features hands on training on the latest technologies and trends that can help developers build better applications.

 

Together we will come up with ideas, break out into teams and develop it.

 

Oh ya, one more thing, we will be giving away great prizes to the teams that win.

Hackathon Theme: Build Voice/SMS apps for Holidays

 

Project(s)

 

Santa Caller (similar to http://santacall.us) - Build a website that allows a parent to schedule a call to their kids from Santa.  Have Santa ask the kid what they would like for Christmas and then email the parents their kid's recorded message and/or transcribe the message for the email.

 

Santa Tag (similar to http://www.bloggingbistro.com/jc-penney-comes-up-with-a-new-use-for-qr-codes-video/) - Build a website that calls someone to record a message then associates the message with a QR code that plays when scanned.

 

Holiday Greetings Hotline - Build a holiday greetings hot line where user can leave a voice message that will be transcribed into text and posted to “Holiday Greetings” twitter account

 

If you have a great idea for holiday related voice or sms app – bring it and share with us..

 

 

Technologies: .NET, Web, PHP, RoR, Groovy, Python, Java, Javascript, nodejs, REST APIs, Tropo

 

Prizes include: IPad 2, Kindle Fire, gift certificates, lots of other things.

5:30pm - Presentation begin

6:30pm - Winners Announced
